Accutane (isotretionoin) is a prescription drug available to people who obtained a prescription from their health care provider and signed a special agreement within the iPLEDGE program. A prescription is given only for a month and needs to be filled within a week from the moment you get it, as otherwise you will have to wait for another three weeks until another prescription can be given. Make sure you do not donate blood while taking Accutane and one month following the treatment. Also do not share this medicine with any other people even if you think that have the same symptoms and need Accutane. Every person must discuss their treatment with a qualified professional for their health conditions to be taken into consideration. In some rare cases patients taking this medicine develop changes in their behavior and thoughts, some may actually develop depression, become violent, have suicidal thoughts etc. If you notice any signs of this kind make sure you contact your health care provider as soon as possible for your dose may need to be reconsidered. Some of the side effects reported by people taking Accutane include changes in skin color, nosebleeds, swollen gums, voice changes, flushing, sweating, dry skin and eyes, sore lips and unusual tiredness. More serious side effects that must be reported to your health care provider include vomiting, seizures, headache, dizziness, weakness in one part of your body, blurred vision, nausea, chest pain, trouble breathing, muscle pain, dark colored urine, jaundice (yellowing of the skin), fainting, rash and fever.
